Helping displaced children rebuild trust and resilience
War has forced millions of Ukrainians to flee their homes. For children, displacement is not only about losing safety — it means losing friendships, language, and identity. Without support, trauma can silence them for years.
At Save Ukraine’s Hope and Healing Centers, our specialists use evidence-based psychosocial support to change that reality. Take Zlata, a girl who arrived withdrawn and uncommunicative after escaping occupation with her parents. Her only expression was through dark, chaotic drawings.
Through structured art therapy, safe space, and family counseling, Zlata gradually regained her voice. She began sharing stories, reconnecting with her parents, and eventually smiling again. Today her drawings reflect hope, not fear.
Zlata’s story is one of more than 1,200 children who have received psychosocial care in our centers since the invasion. Each case is different — but the outcome we aim for is the same: restoring dignity, rebuilding trust, and giving children the tools to heal.
👉 We invite partners to expand this impact. Together, we can ensure that displaced children across Ukraine recover not only safety, but also the confidence to smile, dream, and grow.
