Healing through creativity
In our Community Centers, children displaced by the war have a chance to catch up on their education, which was interrupted by the war and occupation. We offer various creative clubs and studios. Educators and psychologists help the children manage their emotions, catch up with schoolwork, socialize, and adjust to life in a new region. Additionally, our Community Centers are places where every child can talk with others their age and make new friends.
For instance, in the NG| Kids Day Center in Kharkiv, there’s a strong focus on art therapy. The children regularly paint with watercolors and make crafts with their hands. A recent project was a ‘love tree’ made from alabaster and tree branches. Such activities help children concentrate better, develop fine motor skills and creativity. Playing board games is a favorite activity at the center.
Board games and ping-pong are also popular at the “Doloni” day center in Dnipro. Gathering together, the children eagerly talk with their peers and discuss topics important to them. These events at our Community Centers do more than just help displaced children learn new things. They also speed up their psychological recovery after experiencing the war trauma.
