Rescue from the occupation: 10 more children in Ukraine!
Today, Save Ukraine has freed 10 more children from the occupation, including 7 from a large family. The youngest child is 9 months old. To date, we have already returned 345 children to Ukraine.
It was a challenge since the youngest child was born during the occupation, and the documents issued by the occupation authorities are invalid in Ukraine. We could produce new papers and transfer them to the TOT. That was problematic not only because of heavy shelling and disrupted communication but also because of the risk of exposure.
The family had to walk 2.5 km of the humanitarian corridor. This transition was hard for them: the little one cried and was nervous, and the grandmother, whose health worsened, had to be carried in a wheelchair.
The return of each child is a complex process that requires extraordinary efforts from each team member. We are grateful to our partners, Charity Fund Humanity and We Are All Ukrainians, for their support and cooperation in this mission. We are also grateful to KG Moore and the political attache of the US Embassy in Ukraine, who has shared the meeting of the rescued children with us today. This work is critical because every saved child is a step toward restoring the future of Ukraine.
