From loneliness to sincere friendship:
10-year-old Polina lives in Kharkiv, where the war turned children’s lives upside down. Like many other schoolchildren, due to online education, the girl was isolated, and the only window to the world remained the cold screens of gadgets.
But one summer day, everything changed. Children from the Save Ukraine Community Center went to rest on the river and met Polina there. They immediately liked the girl and invited her to join their company in the center. It became a real salvation for Polina, who needed live communication and fun leisure time.
The war left a deep mark on the girl’s soul. She was constantly afraid of losing her relatives and her beloved dog. The only consolation for her was the prayer taught by her grandmother. Polina remained very shy. It was tough for her to open up and find a common language with her peers.
However, in the cozy atmosphere of our Community Center, the girl gradually blossomed. Sincere conversations, joint games, and creative activities helped her overcome her insecurities. Polina found real friends, learned to express her thoughts and feelings without fear of being misunderstood, and started new hobbies. And now her laughter is heard more often, and a light of joy appears in her eyes.
Thanks to caring people who support the work of Save Ukraine, Polina, and other children have a chance for a happy childhood. Thanks to everyone who joins in helping. We dream that every child worldwide feels the warmth of human kindness.
