Art therapy helps children to harmonize their emotional state
You don’t have to be Van Gogh in art therapy. The main goal of this treatment method is to reduce the child’s stress level by expressing their feelings on paper. Sometimes these are feelings of sadness and anger, and they can be expressed in any lines, silhouettes, colors.
Our day care centers for orphans, which operate with the support of We Are All Ukrainians and RTL – Wir helfen Kindern – Spendenmarathon, often have young visitors who are emotionally unstable due to the trauma of war. They look somewhat distant, do not interact as actively with other children and the environment, and sometimes try to get attention in an aggressive way.
It is art therapy that helps these children harmonize their emotional state. During creative activities, the children open up their inner world and thus come to know and accept the current state of affairs more deeply. In addition, in the process, children establish a connection with each other and strengthen their socialization skills.
Most importantly, our teachers see a gradual improvement in the children’s condition. And with each new drawing, the colors become richer, the lines more confident, and the world kinder.
