From shelling to safety: How evacuations work at Save Ukraine
Every day, hundreds of people wait for rescue under heavy shelling. Infants, the elderly, families with children—they are all trapped in harm’s way, unsure of how to escape.
Save Ukraine rescues people from even the most dangerous hotspots, entirely free of charge. We use armored vehicles and ambulances, mapping out a custom route for every family. One call, and we are on our way.
This massive effort, rescuing hundreds of people from the hell of war every day, is made possible by our reliable partners. This project is supported by the KSE Foundation, the charitable foundation of the Kyiv School of Economics.
First, rescued families arrive at a transit hub where they can rest, get a hot meal, receive humanitarian aid, and get a train ticket. If they have family elsewhere in Ukraine, we help them reach their relatives. Those who have nowhere to go are welcomed at our Hope and Healing Centers in safer regions. Additionally, our specialists help them find temporary or permanent housing that fully meets their needs, provide psychological and legal support, and guide them until they are fully adapted to their new community.
